TempAIred — Privacy policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026 Published by: AXD Intelligence, Perth, Western Australia Contact: axdnanini@gmail.com

TempAIred is an app that watches your air conditioner and lets you control it. This policy says, in plain words, what it stores about you, where that lives, and what you can make us delete.

It is written against the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles.

The short version

What we collect, and why

Your account

Email address, the name you give us, your phone number, and the date you joined. Without an email you cannot sign in, and without a phone number a technician cannot call you back about a job you booked.

Your home

The label you give the property (for example "Home" or "Mum's place"), its address, and its climate zone. The address is used for two things only: working out whether your unit is the right size for your climate, and telling a technician where to go when you book one.

Your air conditioner

Make, model, controller type, capacity, and install date. Then, while it runs: room temperatures, zone positions, setpoints, fault codes, filter status, and when it ran.

This is the whole point of the product. It is what lets the app tell you a room never reaches temperature, or that your filter is blocked, or that a fault has appeared.

Service requests

If you book a job: your name, phone, address, what is wrong, how urgent it is, and the times you chose.

Apps you connect

If you let another app on your phone see your air conditioner, we record which app it was, the name shown to you, when you allowed it, and when it last used that permission. We store a one-way fingerprint of the access key, not the key itself.

You can see every app you have allowed, and withdraw any of them, in Settings → Apps that can see your home. Withdrawing takes effect on that app's very next request.

If you are a technician

Your electrical licence number and ARCtick number, and the results of checking them. We check those numbers against the public registers run by ARC (lookforthetick.com.au), WA Building & Energy, NSW Fair Trading, and Access Canberra. Those are the only outside services this product ever contacts, and it only does so for licence checking.

Homeowners are never subject to any of this.

Photos and files you choose to attach

You can attach a photo or a document — a quote, an invoice, a manual, a picture of a room or of the equipment. This only ever happens when you tap to add one, and only the file you pick is read. The app never browses your photo library on its own.

Photos taken for a sizing check are used to work out room dimensions. Attachments you add to a document or a question are stored with it so you can find them later.

Notifications

If you turn notifications on, your device is given a push token so alerts can reach it. That token identifies the device, not you, and is handled by Expo's push service on the way to Apple or Google. It is used only to deliver the alerts you asked for.

Your password

Never stored. What we keep is a scrypt hash, which cannot be turned back into your password.

What we do NOT collect

Where your data actually lives

TempAIred is built to run on a box in your own home. In that arrangement your readings never leave your house at all — the app on your phone talks to the box over your own wifi.

If you turn on access from outside the home, readings are encrypted on your box before they leave it, and travel through a relay that cannot read them. The relay carries sealed data; the key stays with your household.

Account details (email, name, phone) and service bookings are held on servers operated by AXD Intelligence in Australia.

Who else sees it

Nobody, unless you ask for it.

Technicians are independent businesses, not part of TempAIred. One of them is Keep It Tempered, an air-conditioning business in Perth run by the same owner as AXD Intelligence. It has no more access than any other technician: it sees your details only when you book it for a job or grant it access, and only until you withdraw that. It is never shown to you ahead of anyone else because of who owns it. - Another app on your phone sees your air conditioner only if you approve it by name on a consent screen, and only until you withdraw it. - The public licence registers listed above receive a licence number when a technician registers. Nothing about a homeowner is sent to them.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not share it with equipment manufacturers. If a manufacturer ever pays for placement in the app it will be labelled as an advertisement and will never change the technical advice you are given.

We will hand over data if a court or Australian law requires it.

How long we keep it

What you can ask for

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us to:

Email axdnanini@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Security

Passwords are hashed with scrypt. Access keys are stored as one-way hashes. Data sent outside your home is encrypted, and the away-from-home path is built so the relay carrying your readings cannot read them.

No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Children

TempAIred is for adults managing a property. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top is always the version you are reading.
